Japanese wind bell

Summer is coming closer …
In summer it is definitely hot in Japan.  We have not only high temperature but also high humidity, which makes you feel as if humidity clung damply to your body. 
That is typical in summer in Japan.Thanks to an electrical fan or an air conditioner, today it is much easier to cool yourselves.  In those days without such an electric appliance, they managed to feel cool by ear, too. 
‘Wind bell’ was that. 
‘Wind bell’ is upside-down bowl-shaped glass.  They hang it under eaves.  Bathing or sprinkling water were usual ways to cool.  They also enjoyed clinking of ‘wind bells’ so as to escape from the heat briefly.Even now ‘wind bells’ are necessary in summer feature. 
You will see them in many places.When I come across clinking of ‘wind bell’ I know ‘summer has come’, passing of the seasons. 
At the same time I surprisingly feel time flies so quickly, ‘It is already in summer’.
